Professional Boundaries When Working with Justice-Involved Individuals
Tuesday, December 14, 2021, 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM EDT
Category: CE Events: Adult Individuals

Do you currently work in a job which requires relationship development with your client?  Are you also trained to avoid situations with your clients that could be perceived as relationships due to ethical and safety considerations? Have you felt conflicted by this dichotomy or had trouble navigating the fine line that it requires? This contradiction is often especially true when working with justice involved individuals. We will define and discuss each side of this divide, as well as ways to manage it. This workshop will be: A review of the importance of professional boundaries in working with justice involved individuals; an exploration of common ethical and boundary issues that arise while working with those involved in the criminal justice system; a discussion of common vulnerabilities and risk factors that predispose participants to violations; a comparison of therapeutic relationship development versus boundary violations.

Hosted by the Bridgewell Center for Professional Development online for 4 CEs. For more info, visit Bridgewell's website.
