As we all find ourselves at home with (hopefully) more time on our hands, this is a perfect time to catch up on reading and get a boost to support our practice. One Sunday a month, starting in April, we'll dive into the following books:
NEAFAST November Book Club November 8: Tales from the Valley of Death by Rachel and Ross Menzies, with following conversation about death and dying
Successful therapy invites clients to discuss taboo or silenced topics, which includes death, dying, and confronting our mortality. This workshop explores the work of Rachel and Ross Menzies, who, in their book Tales from the Valley of Death: Reflections from Psychotherapy on the Fear of Death, explore etiologies, enactments, and relational impacts of death anxiety. The workshop also utilizes an existentialist perspective, which seeks to establish realistic expectations about the potentials and limitations of the human experience, to help clients and families confront fears of their own losses and the losses of loved ones. This workshop will provide mental health practitioners with strategies for having conversations about end-of-life decisions, living wills, grief and loss, and dying with dignity with individuals, couples, and families.
