Internal Family Systems (IFS) Level 2 Training Shame, Anxiety and Depression: An IFS Approach
Thursday, May 05, 2022, 8:00 AM to Sunday, May 22, 2022, 5:00 PM EDT
Category: CE Events: Adult Individuals

According to Internal Family Systems therapy (IFS) psychic multiplicity is universal and normal, protective subpersonalities, or parts, are the authors of the common psychological sequelae that follow from traumatic attachment rupture, and we all have the core resources we need to heal. The training includes lectures, discussion, live and video demonstration, experiential exercises, and small group practice. It will:● Explore the IFS perspective on depression, anxiety, and shaming, not as disorders but as coping mechanisms used by parts who are responding to constraints in the internal system or in external systems.● Illustrate the function of shaming and discuss its effects.● Expand on the participant's knowledge of polarizations (conflicts between protective parts) and the witnessing/ unburdening process.● Emphasize advanced techniques: working with legacy burdens, phobias, despair and inner critics.● Continue the focus on Self as the healing agent in both the client and therapist, including opportunities for self-exploration and developing the Self of the Therapist.
