This course will equip participants with up-to-date knowledge and skills to enhance the emotional well-being of children and adolescents at school. Topics will encompass fostering open communication around racial diversity and gender/sexuality, preventive strategies for substance abuse and suicide, pharmacotherapy for mental health disorders, interactive case studies in school safety assessment and cognitive processing speed, engaging youth via healing-centered and performance psychology skills, and applying lessons from family therapy with challenging families. The emphasis is on practical and timely clinical information and skills based on emerging research, evidence-based practices, and innovative learning strategies.
