The Age of Anxiety: Assessment and Treatment

The treatment of anxiety is ever-changing as new approaches are discovered or developed to alleviate symptoms and promote healing. In addition, the past several years have brought significant societal turmoil including racial unrest, political division, and a global COVID-19 pandemic. Mental health providers are challenged to adjust to these changing conditions while staying abreast of new data.This course will provide the latest research findings and clinical applications for the diagnosis and treatment of anxiety disorders throughout the lifecycle. Topics will include biological, psychological, cultural and sociological influences of anxiety disorders. Special attention will be paid to the anxiety arising from events in the last several years. The course is designed so the learner can identify and resolve gaps in their practice to reduce anxiety, foster resiliency, and promote social and emotional growth in their patients.Various treatment approaches will be presented via lectures, case studies, panel discussions, and Q&A sessions. The course is intended for all health and mental health clinicians interested in the prevention and treatment of anxiety and its related disorders.
