Dr. Mueller will share sustainable, effective, and equitable strategies to improve suicide prevention in your school. Her research focuses on tangible changes that can be made today to foster a culture of belonging, adopt a whole-child educational philosophy, and prioritize mental health within an MTSS framework. Learn from her findings as a researcher embedded in schools for 5 year surrounded by caring, thoughtful professionals all asking the same questions: 1) How can we build connectedness in schools and communities that facilitates a sense of belonging and effective help-seeking among youth? 2) How can we build better mental health safety systems in schools and communities to help youth who are struggling to improve suicide prevention?Objectives: 1.Participants will be able to explain how schools work to prevent suicide, beyond traditionally identified suicide prevention strategies.2.Participants will be able to describe how to build functional mental health safety nets in schools.3.Participants will be able to discuss practical actionable strategies for improving suicide prevention in schools and communities.
