AGPA Connect 2024: Turbulent Times: Using Groups to Overcome Divisions and Foster Engagement

The Association’s objectives at its Annual Institute and Conference are to offer a variety of program events geared to relevant topics of concern to the mental health professional and to meet a continually evolving organizational policy in subjects essential to group psychotherapists. Also, to provide a forum through the Institute and Conference for an exchange among participants and faculty via the formats designed by the Institute and Conference Committees from dialogue with faculty and registrants in consultation with the Executive Committee and Board of Directors.The Association’s goal is to facilitate and provide the highest quality continuing education programs to aid the practitioner in updating his/her knowledge and skills with current and newer developments in methods, practice, theory, research, etc. in the group psychotherapy field; for improvement of competence in psychotherapy skills to ensure quality mental health services are available. Additionally, the International Journal of Group Psychotherapy, the official publication of the Association, serves to report and interpret research and practice in group psychotherapy in various settings in the United States and other countries and reviews current books in the field to assist mental health professionals with their continuing education. Ultimately, these functions are designed to keep mental health professionals current and upgrade the practice of group psychotherapy.
