Course Description: Clients who present for therapy and practice some sort of open relationship structure can be challenging for those of us who were trained in (and brought up in) systems that value and idealize monogamous relationships. Working with Polyamorous Clients: A Peer Consultation Group will serve as a place for sharing of resources, case consultation, and education, utilizing a number of peer reviewed resources. Learning Objectives:
7-7:15: Review of previous topic and introduction to current topic
7:15-7:30: Discussion of principle of collaborative language systems, in accordance with the book chapter 7:30-7:45: Discussion and practice of therapeutic skills necessary to implement collaborative language systems 7:45-8: Introduction and discussion of case study/case consultation 8-8:15: Continuation of discussion of case study/case consultation 8:15-8:30: Review, discussion of gains made. Facilitator Bio: Brooke Norton, LMFT is a sex therapist in Western Mass. She has been working with polyamorous clients since she started in 2014, as well as being polyamorous herself. She has been in private practice since 2019, and before that was an Associate at Northampton Sex Therapy Associates, under the supervision of Jassy Casella Timberlake. Brooke has taught Human Sexuality at Antioch College as an adjunct professor, and has also presented for the Sexual Health School in Hawaii, Clark University, and Widener University. Brooke’s current caseload consists of many clients who are either considering polyamory or are already practicing it.
